Posters to tell about our past

2C Ora e Veglia - Borgo Valsugana (IT)

The 2nd C of the "Ora e Veglia" Comprehensive Institute in Borgo Valsugana produced a series of posters within the "Oltreconfine" project. The students' goal was to tell Borgo and Valsugana to their peers beyond national borders. They wanted to try to answer the question; "What characterizes the place where you live?". The tool of the poster, that is the graphic that combines words and images, was chosen by the students themselves for its immediacy, for its easy transmission and for the potential of this communication medium. The posters, in fact, lend themselves to multiple levels of reading: the short and incisive texts go well with the images that complete the story. The tool used was the online application "Canva". Easy to use and free in its basic version, it has been the subject of some lessons aimed at its use. In addition, several specific meetings were held on graphics and text writing. The theme of the posters is Borgo Valsugana, between history, traditions, recipes, catastrophic events, music and traditional clothes. The students dealt with both the research of the contents and the iconographic research. They were provided with information on the correct use of images found on the web, with particular attention to respect for copyright and the use of images in Creative Commons. The students also took care of the writing of the texts. The work was carried out at times independently, at others in groups, according to the needs of the students and also in compliance with the COVID regulations. The result is the gallery of posters you find below, made by the students of the second class.
