The Šibovska school is located in the municipality of Prnjavor and was founded during the Austro-Hungarian rule in Bosnia in 1903. At that time, most of the students were of German nationality. Over time it changed its name and jurisdiction, so for many years it was the central school for six other regional structures spread over a significant part of the municipality.

Since 1991 it bears the name of a famous Serbian writer and patriot - Petar Kočić, and today it combines the central school in Šibovska and the regional school in Velika Ilova. Primary education in the Republic of Srpska lasts nine years and the Šibovska school has a decreasing number of students every year due to population migrations, and today it has a class for each level of education.

It is specific in that it teaches Italian thanks to the Italian national minority, in addition to the other two foreign languages - English and German.
